Please describe your position at your company.

Editor in Chief: I make everything you see on our site pretty to the general public, and by general I am referring to legions of, wait, this isn’t my oscar acceptance speak… :( I do a lot of emailing and requesting of Starbucks.. 2 years strong and counting

How long have you known you wanted to do what you are currently working on?

I have known I wanted to be wardrobe stylist and editor for quite sometime, actually, to be exact once I graduated college and got my first real big boy job as a sales associate for French Connection at their head office location did I learn the ins of what it means to be someone’s bitch, however, being the lackie totally paid off as I was able to transfer all the skills I learned (styling, merchandising, and public relations)

Why are you passionate about what you do?

I’m passionate about fashion not because of the way you can express yourself, I am passionate about the dialogue fashion can cause amongst the masses. Fashion is expressive, suggestive, and above all individualistic. There really isn’t anything else like it.

How did you overcome your own doubts and the doubts of other people?

The best way is to not look at your life through the glasses of others. In life you are thrown complications and barriers, however, I have learned that a little bit of doubt within your coffee keeps you level headed and humble.

What were some bumps you hit to get where you’re at now?

Fortunately and unfortunately: life. Life has giving me so much in terms of creativity and beauty in making my dream a reality, however, with obtaining my reality life LOVES to throw in a wrench or two into the mix. I have learned it is better to strive to be whole than perfect.

What is one thing you did wrong in the past that you can share with people?

I didn’t put myself first in my career at times when it was needed and in turn I put my dreams on the back-burner to help elevate another. In life we tend to stifle our own growth in the name of love and or friendship when in return if you are truly in love or hold a friendship in high regard, you both should grow together.

What is a way you got your name out there?

Social Media has been my fairy godmother. I owe a great deal of my success to social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter. I started in my kitchen table with a concept and applied basic Twitter + Facebook social media strategies to engage and grow. Now I am addicted to Instagram, thanks a lot new social media outlets.

Is there anything that almost stopped you from doing this?

I was almost deferred from my current career by friends. Friends are great when the times are going well for you, but as you become more and more successful you will start to notice who is really there to help you when the glitz and glamour tend to fade. The best way I dealt with this was by withholding my professional life from friends and only communicating with those who are within my field.

Is there anyone in your profession that you admire and/or model yourself after?

This is a tough question to answer but I would have to say Jeffery Crawford of Mode Designs. He and I are not within the same field as he is and event/wedding designer, but creatively, he and I are on the same playing field.

He has taught me so much just about business and who to transfer interpersonal skills into profit

How do you continue to perfect your craft?

Constantly. With social media constantly developing and new means of communication coming my way I am forever learning and growing. I strongly believe that your craft will never be perfect, but I do believe you can become excellent within your craft.

What’s some advice you can share for anyone who wants to pursuit what you are doing?

Wardrobe Styling: Don’t be afraid to get your feet wet, as perception is a very powerful tool. If you have a budget of $0.00 learn photoshop and watch tutorials on youtube regarding photography as this will help you become well rounded when on set with models, photographers, and agencies

2) Don’t be afraid to send cold emails to those who you admire. No one is truly out of reach unless they are the President of the United States, everyone is attainable. Send emails and be yourself, people can tell if you are being untrue.
